I played tennis for the second time in my life, tonight. Three courts, six players - plus me; with borrowed gloves and a borrowed racket. I was the worst of them, but I would not be surprised if I enjoyed it the most. That satisfying thwack sound echoing from each court, seeing your breath cloud away from you in the chilly October night air as you dive for the next hit. There is something magic about Tennis that I'm sad I'm only recently discovering. If I had known I love tennis, I might have been into an actual SPORT in High School.
Thanks to the gals I played with: Melissa, Kim, Ari, Cami (the two boys were in their own little world). I was a definite fifth wheel - and worse; one that knows very little about the game. But you girls made me feel welcome and like I was actually making progress.
And Melissa, I hope the exertion brings on the contractions - even though the rest of us think you're a delightful and inspiring little jerk for running after tennis balls for an hour while 8.5 months preggo.

It is kind of sick that Melissa is still our running around as if it was nothing when she's due in less than a month. Leave it to us though to get that baby out!
You did great! Much better than I did my first time. If you ever want to go hit around, give me a call ... I'm always up for it!
