Fully Monday

Woke up late today 'cause I was having one of those weird dreams and I had to see what happened next. It involved me being a pirate on a very modern speedboat saving a little boy whose crazy grandfather was making him swim the entire ocean with him. No life jacket. The boy was clearly exhausted (so was the grandfather, but he was stubborn).

When I told the grandfather he was being ridiculous, he said, "No, we are having a great time! It's good for the boy!"

I asked the boy, and he said - panting - "I think I'm ready to be done."

Yeah. Middle of the ocean. Did I mention there was nothing helpful about? Like a life jacket? Or even a piece of floating shipwreck?

It's nice to know that even Pirate Stepper draws the line at such abuse.

Also: the boy was way impressed with my rig. And my pirateness.

Satisfied, I allowed myself to wake up. Got ready. Did the dishes (which I neglected last night). Packed a lunch. Went to work.

This week, the girls have no school. This means the entire school house is EMPTY except for me and sometimes my boss - which means I can get a LOT DONE. This is a good thing.

A mouse died somewhere in the walls near my office.

This is a bad thing.

Very bad.

8 hours of smelly gag-me-with-a-gravy-ladle bad.

Also: there's no air circulation in my office. So not only do I have dead-mouse smell, I have SWELTERING HOTness.

Plus my own personal heater who keeps jabbing me in the bladder (she is sweet, but she has definitely found the bladder! I wonder if it's bouncy or something? Why do they always kick the bladder?).

so it's hot and smelly.

But still productive.

Except that all I can think about is our trip to Seattle this weekend. YES PLEASE!

And that I still have to find someone to cover me on Sunday.

Sigh.

(but Seattle!)

HOPEFULLY there will be a lot of this:

Why would you hope for a lot of red galoshes? I would think one pair would be enough for anyone, even in Seattle.
