There was something in my mailbox...

...a priority mail package that was heavy. Bill hefted it into my lap while he sorted through the rest of the mail, looking for the design magazine he had ordered. I turned the package in my hands, reveling in the moment.

It was the weight of it - the heaviness - that made me certain that this was sent by a person, not a robot, or worse, a corporation - deliberately and with me in mind. This was a gift.

No return address.

Bill swore it wasn't from him, and I made him pinky swear just to be doubly sure.

This was a package - a heavy package - from an unknown source with my name on it.
The mystery of it was so delicious.

I tore into the package, and...behold!

Wait, is that - ? Yes. Yes it is.

Again, yes. Your eyes do not deceive. It is in actual fact a FIVE POUND BAG of pure gummie gold. The Patron Saint of Decadent Sweets has smiled upon me. I am now in happy possession of what must be a year's supply of my most favoritest candy ever.

The HARIBO WHITE GRAPEFRUIT GUMMIE.

I considered displaying it on the mantle. But we don't have a mantle, so...

Such spoils must be shared with my other half (greater love, hon'!)...

Bill's face says it all.

We sinfully indulged. Usually the White Grapefruit Gummie is consumed with careful savor. One or two - perhaps three if the day calls for celebration or consolation. I think I probably had 10.

Last night was a VERY good night.

The giver of the gift meant to remain anonymous - but unfortunately my sleuthing skills are impressively refined. Also: the shipper left the email address of the purchaser on the packing list.

Clinton and Elisabeth, you have many of my thanks! My nod to your wonderful sense of fun. And the devotion of the entire civilization of my tastebuds.

And receiving a surprise package in the mail will remain one of the highlights of my life.

Those in my vicinity who have heard my odes to this perfect candy (how I do go on and on about them!) should really stop by and try one. Really.

I don't even like grapefruit, but the way you describe it makes me NEED a piece...

And Bill has a beard!? Whoa. It looks cool. I'm definitely a fan of beards.

Those are the only things that got me through finals - every semester, for four years.

My mouth is watering ....

You're so welcome :-) Although, I really wish there had been no sign of who sent it, just to make it a little more fun.
