Misadventures - and Blog Appreciation Giveaway #2!

"Everyone is posting about Mother's Day, and I'm doing a blogger appreciation week." I said to Bill while doing the Kitchen Shuffle (you know, the one where you go from fridge to pantry to cupboard to fridge in a vicious circle trying to figure out what sort of passable dinner you can construct from crackers, pop tarts, and chard). "Do you think that makes me more or less likely to be able to do a giveaway?"

Bill just laughed.

It is odd timing. I LOVE YOU, MOM! (I'm excited for our Brunch on Saturday!)

Here's the thing - we had a bit of a misadventure last night involving our beautiful Rav4 (sniff!) and another car that sort of forgot to stop at a red light...and so things are a bit hectic at our house right now.

So the post I was going to do today will have to wait until tomorrow.

But I wanted to post today's giveaway anyway, 'cause, you know...even with a crunched car, I still appreciate you all!

Today's giveaway features MY FAVORITE BOOK!

The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Now, you must understand that when I say 'my favorite book' I mean 'one of my many, many favorite books' because I have several - but I can't say "one of my favorite's" because that makes it seem like I have a list of top ten or something, and really, I have a group that all sit together in slot number one of my favorites.

The books I read again and again.

This particular book has been my favorite book for the very longest. So if I were to carelessly say things like "my absolute favorite" - it would be this one. It's a beautiful, thought provoking story. It's a very quick read.

And I want you to read it!

A comment on this post enters you to win the book. What's your favorite book?

Until tomorrow!

Post Edit: I rambled this post off so quickly this afternoon that I forgot to mention: The book prize also includes an assortment of my favorite reading treats! Because you can't settle into your couch for a tasty read without something to taste.

I, like you, have many favorite books. But the one I have read the most, so much that it's missing the covers and the title pages and is starting to fall into pieces, is Watership Down. It's a beautiful book, in my opinion, but I don't think many have read it. (A very close second is Ender's Game, which is also falling apart.)

Christina - Watership Down is one of Bill's favorites. Enders Game is also 'my favorite book' and I have multiple copies - for reading and lending. Good choices!

I don't have a favorite book because I enjoy so many. However, I would like to point out that the Little Prince is the only book I have ever read in three languages: English, Norwegian and French. Yup, I sure am awesome :/

Oooo pick me! I, too, have many favorites. But my favorite children's book is The Quiltmakers Gift. Beautifully illustrated and teaches SO many wonderful life lessons'. Of course, the monster books are right up there too!

Oh my gosh ... how on earth could I pick just one?! A few (just a sampling really) are: Persuasion (a fantastic love story), Jane Eyre (a classic), 19 minutes (a perspective changer), I could go on and on ... I think I just love to read in general :)

Pick me! Pick me! (haha)

My all-time favorite book is still Wuthering Heights, although I dearly love Jane Eyre, Great Expectations, and the Count of Monte Cristo. I'm a classics junkie. But Wuthering heights is the guilty pleasure of classics...characters behaving badly, depressing scenery, and ghosts. LOVE it.

Ohhh! I think I have heard you talk about this book like ALL my life but I have never actually read it. I know, I know, but please don't shun me. One of my children's book is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom...can't go wrong with the alphabet. : D

I've not read that book since I was a kid! I do remember liking it though, it's one of my mothers favorites. I have many, many favorite books as well. My current favorite kids book is Skippyjon Jones. This book must be read out loud, it's not one you should read to yourself first, you must have it read to you.

I would have to say that Harry Potter is the series I most enjoy reading and the one I have read most often. Since the books starting coming out when I was 12 I felt like I grew up with Harry. I really appreciated the way JK Rowling was honest in expressing that good conquers evil but that there is a price and doing the right thing isn't always popular. Anyway I could go on and on and on and on...

I to0 have many favorite books, some cheesy like the twilight series, (can a girl not indulge her tween-like romantic side?) or the more mature, art-like appreciation a twenty-something year old should be interested in, like: Sideways stories from Wayside school. Eat that. As for Chloe, this little book you speak of fascinates me. She is quite fond of my many twisted and inaccurate renditions of Goldy Locks and the kid-eating bears, (It's been a while since I was read a bed time story.) but could probably squeeze out some adoration for stories of a different kind. Even if I don't win, which I will, I will seek out this tiny book you recommend.

I know, I'm weird. XO

However redonkulous, my favorite book seems to be The Princess Bride. Yes, like the movie. Buuuuuut...the book is really fun to read! I still have the same paperback copy I got via a Scholastic book order in grade school (ha!). I got a fancy special hardback copy and ended up giving it away as a gift because it just wasn't as cool as my tattered paperback with Robin Wright and Carey Elwes's cheesy grins staring back up from the cover. :)
