Weekend Fact: Eyebrow Threading

So I was on the dreaded Facebook (love/hate relationship, there) a while back, and my cousin had posted something about having just had her eyebrows threaded in California - and wondered if they did it anywhere in Utah.

I had never heard of eyebrow threading. I'm embarrassed to admit that I thought maybe she had her eyebrows braided or something. So I was curious. So I looked into it.

Turns out eyebrow threading is an ancient technique for removing unwanted hair around the eyebrows.  It's an Eastern practice - and is the culprit behind the the extremely clean lined eyebrows of those exotic Eastern beauties. Something they're known for.

I read a few articles, watched a few videos - didn't believe it could be that easy. So I pulled out some thread and tried it myself.

Haven't touched tweezers since.

Fact: You can get it professionally done - and for approximately the same price as a waxing, but it's a LOT better for your skin. Apparently, those who have extremely sensitive skin and can't get their eyebrows waxed (and have trouble with tweezing) can thread their eyebrows without skin trouble.

Fact: It's touted to be painless - but I submit that there are moments of ouch! I suspect it's a lot less painful than waxing, though I've never had my brows waxed (Ari, was that you gasping?). The thing is - it's more comfortable than tweezing because I can do the same amount of work in a fraction of the time. And the lines are straighter!

Fact: It takes practice. And if I'm any indication - you still have to do it as often as tweezing. Not sure if waxing is different.

Fact: It's rather fun!

Wanna know how it works? Meet Eily (one of those exotic beauties I was talking about). She'll take you through a step-by-step:

Do try this at home! And let me know what you think!

Maybe I am a huge baby, but this hurt me way more than waxing :/ but I am willing to try it again. Anything beats daily tweezing.

Wow, I really want to try this now! But I'll admit, I'm scared! Oh, and I've never waxed either, I'm scared of that too! haha

Um okay I tried it and it totally didn't work for me. It made me sneeze for 10 minutes and hurt a bit but I didn't see any amazing lines. I had a hard time getting it work. Guess I'll stick to tweezing :(
